    If your scheduled arrival time is between midnight and 5:00 a.m. and your train has an expected delay of at least 60 minutes at the destination, you may use a taxi. The refund of the taxi bill is however limited to 80 € per person. This also applies in the event that your train is canceled and according to the timetable, it is the last connection to reach your arrival station before midnight.
    If you missed your connecting train during a transfer or the last train has been cancelled, and if travelling on the same day is not possible, you can be compensated for reasonable overnight accommodation.
    Your train is already late before you start your journey? If you can expect to arrive with at least 60 minutes delay, you can withdraw from your trip and have the full fare reimbursed.
    If there is a high possibility of a delay of at least 60 minutes at your arrival station, you can cancel your trip at the earliest opportunity during the journey and get the full fare reimbursed.
    Have you reserved a seat and cannot take it due to a delay? Then you are entitled to the total refund of your reservation. It does not matter if you could not use the seat because of a missed connecting train, because of a delay or your reserved seat was not provided.

    You can submit all your train tickets. Whether it is a “normal” ticket, a “Sparpreis” ticket, with a Bahn Card 25/50 discount or a subscription (time-period tickets or BahnCard100). We also like your tickets if you bought it online, in the DB app, at the counter or from the conductor. The format also doesn’t matter. You can send us the ticket as PDF, scan or photo – but it must be legible.

    Submitting your train tickets is complimentary. After our validation, we may make an offer to buy your ticket. On average, we charge a 15% fee on your claim for our service, and we transfer the money to your bank account within 24 hours after you accepted our offer. Example calculation per trip:

    • Ticket price: 100 €
    • Delay: 65 minutes
    • Compensation: 25% (= 25 €)
    • Our average offer: 21.25 €

    You are eligible for compensation to all tickets up to 12 months after the trip. Therefore, you can submit all tickets from the last 12 months and get money back retroactively.

    At Bahn-Buddy.de, you can submit all your train tickets for journeys within the EU. Regardless of whether the train traveled from Germany to abroad (and/or back). Or the journey was entirely abroad in the EU.

    We work on the basis of the European Regulation (EC) 1371/2007, which regulates the rights of passengers and the resulting claims for delays or cancellations of trains.

    If you arrive at your destination with at least 60 minutes delay, you are entitled to compensation for part of the ticket costs. In this case, you would get 25% of the plain ticket price. The compensation is 50% as of 120 minutes delay.

    You can indeed. Please find the official Deutsche Bahn claim form here. After completing the form for each individual train ticket by hand and sending the forms as a letter to the passenger rights service center, it may take several weeks for you to receive compensation from Deutsche Bahn. This requires a lot of effort and possibly many iterations regarding delays, changeovers and train numbers.

    We only need your ticket in electronic form: as an online ticket (booking confirmation PDF), scan or photo.
